# Manual video capture

{% hint style="info" %}
Manual video capture is triggered by keyboard shortcuts configured in Chrome's [Keyboard shortcut settings](/help/capture-settings/keyboard-shortcut-settings.md)
{% endhint %}

There are two types of manual video capture:

* [**Recording video**](#recording-video)
* [**Recording new video step**](#recording-new-video-step)

### **Recording video**

Press your keyboard shortcut to begin video capture. Recording will stop when you click anywhere on the screen or press the shortcut again.

#### How to record a video using a keyboard shortcut

{% @guideflow/guideflow-embed requestedUrl="<https://app.guideflow.com/player/0p0ooewsyp>" %}

* Open Guideflow's Chrome extension.
* Select Screenshot capture.
* Start the Screenshot capture.
* When you want to record a video, press your keyboard shortcut (e.g. ⇧⌘G). See [Keyboard shortcut settings](/help/capture-settings/keyboard-shortcut-settings.md) for instructions.
* To end the recording, click anywhere on the screen or press the shortcut again.
* The step will be added to Guideflow's editor as a video, with an icon indicating the type of video capture.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can edit your video recordings using [Video capture editor](/help/capture-a-guideflow/how-to-capture-a-guideflow/screen-capture/video-capture-editor.md)
{% endhint %}

### **Recording new video step**

Press your keyboard shortcut to begin video capture. Recording will stop when you press the shortcut again. During the recording, you can click as many times as needed to demonstrate your workflow — the video will continue capturing.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can also capture video of desktop applications using Guideflow's [Desktop App](/help/get-started/install-desktop-app.md). Use the **⇧⌥V** (Shift+Option+V) shortcut to start and stop the video capture.\
\
Make sure to record on your main screen if you’re using multiple monitors.
{% endhint %}
