# Automatic video capture

{% hint style="info" %}
Automatic video capture can be turned on & off in Guideflow's [Chrome extension settings](/help/capture-settings/chrome-extension-settings.md)
{% endhint %}

There are three types of automatic video capture:

* [Record video on drag & drop](#record-video-on-drag-and-drop)
* [Record video on scroll](#record-video-on-scroll)
* [Record video on typing](#record-video-on-typing)

### Record video on drag & drop

Capture a video clip when dragging and dropping elements.

{% @guideflow/guideflow-embed requestedUrl="<https://app.guideflow.com/player/qkqxyvxf1r>" %}

### Record video on scroll

Record vertical or horizontal scroll movements.

{% @guideflow/guideflow-embed requestedUrl="<https://app.guideflow.com/player/zklgno3sor>" %}

### Record video on typing

Record a clip of the typing animation in a search or text bar.

{% @guideflow/guideflow-embed requestedUrl="<https://app.guideflow.com/player/lpnw6gmajp>" %}

***

**Video Transition**

When a video is automatically captured during a screen recording flow (e.g. scrolling, typing, or drag and drop), you can choose to display that step as a static screen instead of playing it as a video.

{% @guideflow/guideflow-embed requestedUrl="<https://app.guideflow.com/player/gkyz52nhdr>" %}

* Select the video step in the editor.
* Open **Step information** in the right panel.
* Toggle off **Video Transition** to display the step as a static screen.
* Toggle it back on at any time to restore the video playback.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can trim and adjust the speed of automatic video captures in the [Video capture editor](/help/capture-a-guideflow/how-to-capture-a-guideflow/screen-capture/video-capture-editor.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.guideflow.com/help/capture-a-guideflow/how-to-capture-a-guideflow/screen-capture/automatic-video-capture.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
